The face
The obsession is an essential component of art, as if we’d always propose ourselves. In the face’s case, this constantly happens. Everytime I seem to discover something new. I’m always fascinated by what is born through the forms. Maybe it’s because the face is the first thing we see when we are born. The face of a mother, the unconditional love.
It’s the face, in everyone of its nuances, defaults, expressions, wrinklles, smiles, it allows us to read other people’s emotions: true love, friendship, hate.
When I create a face that didn’t exist before, I create an emotion that wasn’t there before. I transfer my own emotions on that face that, for me, is like a chest of honesty.
I don’t care for portraits, because they represent a real person: my practice is ideal, made of reasearch not reality.
